Russell D. Crouse, Ph.D.
Russell D. Crouse, Ph.D., a license Psychologist in Tennessee since 1980, is a senior partner with Germantown Psychological Associates, performing psychological evaluations and providing individual and marital therapy to adolescents and adults. Dr. Crouse has served as program director and clinical director to adolescent psychiatric and alcohol and drug abuse treatment programs.
Prior to joining GPA, Dr. Crouse worked as a psychologist and consultant to area hospitals and outpatient treatment programs. Dr. Crouse has made numerous presentations to community and professional groups on a wide range of topics including AD/HD, addictive behavior, depression, and stress management. Dr. Crouse received the Master of Divinity degree from Nazarene Theological Seminary, and Master's and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Memphis.
He holds the Certificate of Proficiency in the treatment of Alcoholism and Other Psychoactive Substance Use Disorders from the American Psychological Association. He has a particular sensitivity to the relationship of religious beliefs and psychological health.
Dr. Crouse's primary approach in psychotherapy is based on cognitive behavioral research, but his treatment strategies are also informed by systems theory and the 12-step model. He attempts to assure that treatment efforts are guided by relevant theory and research, but that he keeps his focus on effective, compassionate treatment of the individual who is seeking assistance.
