Memphis Heritage Trail

The Memphis Heritage Trail (MHT) is a vibrant cultural and community redevelopment initiative that highlights the rich African American history and contributions in Memphis. Spanning a 20-block area in South Memphis, the trail offers a "walking museum" experience with over 60 cultural landmarks, including ties to historic neighborhoods like Orange Mound and Soulsville. MHT features prominent sites such as the National Civil Rights Museum, Beale Street, and the I AM A MAN Plaza, providing visitors with an immersive journey through the city’s civil rights legacy and African American heritage. The trail also promotes community engagement through educational programs and public art installations. It is designed not only to celebrate history but also to stimulate economic development by attracting cultural tourism to the area
