Thomas M. Vorwerk, MS
Tom Vorwerk received his BS in Psychology and MS in Psychological Science from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. His academic focus was on cognition in younger and older adults, and led research studies and presented findings in this field. Tom’s specialization is in geriatrics, specifically cognitive health and positive aging. His thesis, Keeping Your Glass Half Full: Cognitive Strategy Intervention for Older Adults, serves as the foundation of his work. Tom is currently creating educational programs for older adults to teach strategies for improving everyday memory. This is planned to include methods of supporting cognitive and mental health, and strategies to improve daily memory, such as names and future tasks. The goal of Tom’s work as a whole is to provide older adults the tools and training to support healthy cognition, independence, and the confidence to overcome obstacles of aging and enjoy life to its fullest. Tom is also interested in caregiver support and person-centered mental health care. Tom is currently completing another MS in Mental Health Counseling, which is preparing him for working with older adults in both individual and group settings. He is also working with Dr. Luscomb on an Assessment protocol for seniors specifically as well as for individuals with ADHD and Trauma.
